HEC Chinese Government Scholarships 2024. The scholarships are posted on 16th September 2024. The HEC Chinese Government Scholarship Program 2024-2025 is a fully-funded initiative by the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) in collaboration with Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC). It provides opportunities for Pakistani students to pursue undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral studies at top Chinese universities.

Only applicants with a valid HAT score (obtained on or after December 9, 2022) or USAT score (obtained on or after December 9, 2023) are eligible for the Chinese Government Scholarship Program 2025-26. A valid score must be uploaded to the HEC portal during the application process to be considered. Applicants must also submit an online application on the China Scholarship Council (CSC) portal under category A (agency number 5861) via Campuschina.org or CSC’s official site.

This program aims to strengthen educational ties between China and Pakistan. The Chinese Scholarship Council, under the Ministry of Education of China, administers the scholarships, enabling Pakistani students and researchers to pursue undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees at Chinese universities. HEC serves as the nominating agency for these fully funded opportunities for the academic year 2025-26.

The deadline for the application submission is Monday 9th December 2024.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for the Chinese Government Scholarship Program must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Nationality and Health:

  1. Must be Pakistani or AJK nationals; dual nationality holders are not eligible.
  2. Should be in good health.
  • Education and Age Requirements:

    1. Undergraduate applicants: Must have completed Intermediate/A-levels/FA-FSc (12 years of education) and be under 25 years old.
    2. Master’s applicants: Must hold a Bachelor’s degree (16 years of education) and be under 35 years old.
    3. PhD applicants: Must have a Master’s (MS/MPhil) degree and be under 40 years old.
  • Academic and Application Criteria:

    1. Meet the requirements outlined by the China Scholarship Council and the respective universities, including academic qualifications and language proficiency.
    2. Should not be receiving any other scholarships at the time of application.
  • Test Score Requirements:

    1. Applicants must provide a valid HAT or USAT score, with a minimum of 50 out of 100.
    2. HAT is required for master’s and PhD applicants, while USAT is required for undergraduate applicants.
    3. Test validity: HAT scores are valid for two years, and USAT scores for one year. For the 2025-26 program, HAT scores must be from December 9, 2022, or later, and USAT scores from December 9, 2023, or later.

Financial Benefits

  • The Chinese Government Scholarship offers extensive financial support to awardees, covering the following:
  • Tuition: The scholarship funds are allocated to cover tuition and associated academic costs. This also includes administration fees, health insurance, and other necessary student-related expenses determined by the host university.

  • Accommodation: Awardees receive free dormitory accommodation at the university or a subsidy to help with housing costs.

  • Stipend: A monthly allowance is provided according to the China Government Scholarship guidelines, though the specific amount can vary.

  • Travel Expenses: Scholarship recipients are responsible for their own travel costs. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) will not cover any travel-related expenses.

Required documents

  • HEC Application:

    1. Submit a signed copy of the HEC application form in spiral binding (no additional documents).
  • CSC Application:

    1. Submit a signed CSC application form.
    2. Provide attested educational documents, CNIC/B-form, Domicile, IBCC equivalency (if applicable), and HEC equivalency (if applicable).
    3. Include a Study Plan/Research Proposal: 200 words for undergraduates, 500 words for non-degree students, 800 words for postgraduates.
    4. Submit language proficiency proof (IELTS/TOEFL/HSK, if applicable).
    5. Provide a valid passport copy (valid until March 1, 2026).
  • Health & Police Records:

    1. Submit the Physical Examination Record (in English) with required tests. Keep the original.
    2. Provide a Non-criminal Record (Police Clearance Certificate), valid within 6 months.
  • Additional Requirements:

    1. For Master’s & PhD: Apply for a pre-admission letter from the target university (optional but recommended for priority).
    2. Submit two recommendation letters for graduate applicants.
    3. Provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer if employed.
    4. Applicants under 18 need legal guardian documents for China.

    2. Submit clear, valid documents on both HEC and CSC portals.
    3. False information will result in disqualification and penalties.
    4. Apply online via the HEC portal by December 9, 2024. No hard copies are required at this stage.
