Scholarships Announced for Pakistan Students by Oxford University. The Oxford Pakistan Programme (OPP) has announced the Tareen Oxford Scholarship to uplift talented young students in Pakistan. These scholarships are for talented Pakistani Students who cannot afford tuition fee and living cost for the entire program at Oxford University.

Preference shall be given to students from South Punjab who have the have the potential and commitment to contribute to South Punjab’s Development. The Oxford Pakistan Programme (OPP) had announced the scholarships on Tuesday. The scholarships will be awarded to students on merit basis and cover tuition fees and living costs for the entire program.

The Scholarship will play a critical role in bringing forth youth from one of most underdeveloped regions of Pakistan. Every year the graduate scholarships will be awarded to three Pakistan and British Pakistani students. The scholarships will also be awarded to students who have an admission offer to one of the eligible graduate courses that are offered by University of Oxford’s Kellogg College but the students do not have the financial means to apply for the course.

The Tareen Oxford Scholarship was made possible by the bounteous support of Ali Tareen. Ali Tareen is the son of well renowned politician Mr. Jahangir Tareen. Ali Tareen is an Alumnus Kellogg College, Oxford. The scholarship is a part of five year program, with funds being donated every year and pay out on a rolling basis.

Two Initial Stages of Programme

  • An access programme for final-year students wishing to pursue graduate degrees will include an access conference for South Punjab final-year students wishing to pursue MSc and PhD degrees overseas. The top 20 Access Conference registrants will receive complimentary one-on-one mentoring with an Oxford student or recent alumnus.
  • From intermediate toppers and first year public sector University toppers, hundred of students from South Punjab will be selected who have either topped their Intermediate boards or received the highest percentage  in their first year of university. These students will receive one-on-one mentoring to assist them in an aspirational manner to become the best minds globally. The students will be given mentorship on how to make the most of their upcoming three to four years. The student will also be guided on their career prospects.
